Pedersen: Are the Riders mentally tough enough?
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are seriously teetering on a cliff right now.The Green & White were denied a fourth-consecutive victory Saturday night in Calgary when they lost 29-25 to the Stampeders. It clinched top spot for the Stamps and means if the Riders want to get to the Grey Cup they’ll have to beat BC in the Semi-Final here in Regina, then go to Calgary to upset the mighty Stampeders just to get back home and face Kent Austin’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL title game on November 24 (that’s my bold prediction and has been since the spring).Fighting Words?Roughrider defensive back Dwight Anderson,Arizona Cardinals Jersey, a Stampeder for three seasons before eventually heading to Saskatchewan, had a direct message for the Calgary Stampeders.» Read MoreHow are the Riders teetering on the brink of extinction so far in advance of the Grey Cup? Well after this week’s throwaway game at home against Edmonton to conclude the regular season they’ll enter the perilous single-elimination tournament. At this critical juncture, it remains to be seen if the Riders are peaking at the right time or “firing on all cylinders”,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, whatever that means. I was never much into cars.So while the Stampeders were putting the finishing touches on their first-place finish the other night, effortlessly switching up quarterbacks as if coach John Hufnagel was shifting gears in a Mercedes, the Roughriders were stuck on the side of the road, looking under the hood amidst a pile of steam. That’s the way it looked to me. The sideline blow up between Rider tailback Kory Sheets and offensive coordinator George Cortez was so troubling you wanted to look away and after the game Rider defensive back Dwight Anderson fumed to reporters, “Calgary sucks!”Even the most dyed-in-the-wool Rider supporter would think to ask Dwight, “so where does that leave you?”Really, the most troubling thing right now is the frustration of Sheets. He was limited to 42 yards on 11 carries and the strategy was unclear; did the Riders abandon the run because Sheets wasn’t getting early yards or was he never really part of the game plan in the first-place? Even Sheets himself doesn’t know and it took veteran slotback Geroy Simon to calm him down going into the half at McMahon Stadium.“Honestly I just said use that emotion on the field,” Simon shrugged. “Guys get heated and they get emotional and frustrated. Guys gotta try to calm each other down but at some point you gotta let guys be themselves and vent. If it’s on the sidelines it has to be channeled the right way but if it’s on the field you can use that to motivate you.”Upon the team’s return to Regina, head coach Corey Chamblin said they aren’t “mentally tough enough” in some areas at this point in time and the Sheets blow-up is another sign of where they are as a team right now.Peaking at the right time? Hardly. But there’s time to figure it out and that’s generally what they do best. Losing streaks are followed up by winning streaks around here and if the Riders were to clinch first-place and win the Grey Cup they would have had to string together eight-straight victories going back to Week 15 in BC.That’s highly unlikely if not impossible for this team to do. So they’ll regroup, recharge, and tune up against Edmonton before attempting to eliminate the BC Lions who will likely still be without top pivot Travis Lulay. Then a trip to Calgary and the Western Final looms on the horizon and the Riders’ odds are just as good as the Stampeders’ in that one. Home teams are 5-5 over the past decade in CFL West Finals. It really was a razor-thin loss in Calgary in a game in which the Riders shot off almost all of their toes. They’re going to work to fix these things for the game that really counts.Sometimes it’s better to be the hunter than the hunted. For daily Rider news follow Rod on Twitter at @sportscage.

White were going to turn it. As it turned out
Pedersen: Roughriders enter new and unchartered territory
REGINA -- We are in new, uncharted territory here. It’s strange. It feels great, but strange. The Saskatchewan Roughriders entered the history books this weekend with a 48-25 blowout of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Labour Day Classic XLVII at Mosaic Stadium. It was the second-highest attendance in Roughrider history at 44,910 and the vast, vast majority of fans were clad in green. More on that in a moment. But more importantly, for the first time in their 103 years, the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ record stands at 8-1. It’s astounding when you think about it, but then again maybe not so much when you consider this franchise’s bumpy track record and reputation as lovable losers. Not anymore. One of the few blemishes on this season is the fact the Riders have become notorious slow-starters and they allowed the Bombers to score first in Sunday’s game, and Winnipeg even led 18-14 at the halftime break. But was anyone worried? Nah. At halftime in the press box everyone just wondered when the Green & White were going to turn it. As it turned out, they didn’t wait long. The Riders scored a touchdown on their first drive of the second half, took the lead, and never looked back. As my radio partner Carm Carteri said late in the game, “The Riders just broke the Bombers’ spirit”. They did. In fact they wore them right out. Winnipeg may be last in the East Division but they came into Regina on this weekend to play. Unfortunately for them, they ran into the strongest team Saskatchewan has ever fielded. The record says so. Related Links Saskatchewan continues to roll in win Kory Sheets, Taj Smith and Geroy Simon all had a pair of touchdowns as the Saskatchewan Roughriders handled the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 48-25 Sunday afternoon. CFL Power Rankings: Week 10 More from Rod Pedersen And the Bombers didn’t have the backing of their own fans in this Labour Day Classic,Arizona Cardinals Jersey, or at least to the degree they used to. Labour Day weekend is always one of the highlights on the football calendar around here because it’s a mini-Grey Cup atmosphere but that wasn’t the case in 2013. The thousands of Bomber fans who make the trip to Regina annually elected to stay home this time around, reducing the number of blue and gold jerseys in the crowd on Sunday. That makes the attendance of 44,910 all the more astonishing because the stadium was populated by almost entirely Rider fans. This team is on a collision course with the Grey Cup and the ride has been a thrill-a-minute. “I’ve never seen so much talent,” said Rider defensive end John Chick, who had the team’s two sacks in the game. “And maturity. We have some things to work on both on and off the field, but this is a mature bunch. “Everybody gets along well and it’s a tight bunch. It’s been a lot of fun.” The question now is; how high can they go?

Sports Massage Therapy Complements Sports and Fitness in Warrington PA
Sports Massage Therapy Complements Sports and Fitness in Warrington PA
It is not easy to start a fitness regimen. It is even more difficult to maintain it. Fitness trainers have observed that many people who embark on such a journey may have started with the best intentions but are forced to drop out after only a few sessions because of muscle soreness. The same is true for would be athletes. Many people stop pursuing a sport after experiencing body pains due to rigorous practice sessions. Sports and fitness do not have to be beyond the reach of many, though. A professional massage therapist can help prepare people for sports and fitness with regular sports massage therapy. People residing in Bucks County, Doylestown, Warminster, Horsham, Willow Grove, Abbington, Ambler, Chalfont, New Hope, Newtown, Richboro, South Hampton and Lansdale can avail of sports massage therapy from professional massage therapists at a reputable therapeutic massage spa that also gives reflexology massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, Swedish massage therapy and pregnancy massage therapy in Warrington PA.
Massage therapy prevents and eases the muscle soreness that comes after indulging in sports or doing a workout. Experts explain that this is the result of lactic acid and other metabolic wastes building up in muscle tissues during rigorous activity. Sports massage therapy safely and effectively flushes out such wastes from the system, thereby lessening soreness, reducing inflammation and preventing the onset of cramps. The increase in blood circulation also increases the flow of oxygen to the muscles, facilitating recovery.
Sports massage therapy improves one's flexibility, agility and range of movement by stretching, releasing and relaxing the tightened muscles repeatedly. With such preparations, muscles are conditioned to meet the various challenges of sports and fitness regimens. They are therefore less prone to injury and less at risk of sports or fitness related damage. Because of this, one is able to maximize each workout or practice session, making it more efficient and effective.
Of course, sports massage therapy enables the athlete or fitness buff to perform at his or her best with muscles that are well prepared and conditioned for all the right moves. Energy levels are maximized by improved blood flow and increased body oxygenation. Hormones are regulated by massage therapy, erasing nervousness and anxiety to give way to alertness and mental clarity.
Because trainers and sports doctors alike recognize the effectiveness of sports massage therapy, it has been incorporated as a standard feature in many athletic training regimens. Experts recommend that sports massage therapy sessions be done regularly and long term for best results. A massage session should be scheduled no less than once a week. It should also be set three to four days before a sports event or competition, with a short session of 15 to 20 minutes added four hours before the actual activity. After the competition, a 10 to 15 minute recovery massage session should also be scheduled.
Sports and fitness regimens are best complemented by sports massage therapy indeed. Other therapeutic massage modalities can also enhance one's abilities, performance and lifestyle, though. Deep tissue massage therapy, for example, can dig out and release persistent knots from deep within the muscles, sometimes caused by old scar tissue and adhesions. Reflexology massage therapy, on the other hand, can address specific illnesses or diseases. For pregnant women, specialized pregnancy massage therapy is most appropriate to ease discomfort and prepare the body for childbirth. Anyone who just wants to relax in between workouts or any strenuous or stressful activity can opt for Swedish massage therapy. Sports massage therapy, deep tissue massage therapy, reflexology massage therapy, pregnancy massage therapy and Swedish massage therapy are all offered by the best therapeutic massage spas in Warrington PA that serve residents of Bucks County, Doylestown, Warminster, Horsham, Willow Grove, Abbington, Ambler, Chalfont, New Hope, Newtown, Richboro, South Hampton and Lansdale.

Six Ways to Invest in the Game of Hockey Comcast Corporation
Six Ways to Invest in the Game of Hockey Comcast Corporation
What better time to think about hockey than during the hot days of summer? There are several companies that are connected to hockey teams and equipment, but unfortunately no pure plays. For most of these companies, hockey is a small part of their business.
Here are some interesting facts about hockey:
The Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League, and the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League are owned by a company called ComcastSpectacor, of which 63% is owned by Comcast (CMCSA). It also owns the Wachovia Center, and the Wachovia Spectrum sports arena where hockey is played. Comcast has a price earnings ratio of 28.34, and a price earnings to growth ratio of 1.89. The Toronto Maple Leafs, one of the 'Original Six' members of the NHL, is owned by Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment Ltd., 14 percent of which is owned by TorontoDominion Bank (TD). Maple Leaf Sports also owns the Air Canada Center sports arena, where hockey is played. TorontoDominion has a P/E of 14.87, a PEG of 1.14, and a yield of 3%. Its latest quarterly earnings were up 19.1%. The New York Rangers are owned by the Madison Square Garden Limited Partnership, which is owned by Cablevision (CVC). The Hockey Company, also known as CCM, is the ice hockey equipment licensee, and supplier to the NHL until the year 2014. CCM is owned by Reebok which is owned by Adidas AG (OTC:ADDYY), the Germanbased sportswear, and sporting goods company. It has an operating margin of 8.12%, and a return of average equity of 17.83%.
